Wolf administration sheds light on education funding during visit to Delco Southeast School District

Ardmore, Pennsylvania – During a visit today to Chestnutwold Primary School in the Haverford Township School District, the Department of Education (PDE) highlighted the importance of education funding and continued commitment of Governor Tom Wolf to ensure Pennsylvania continues to invest in education.

“By investing in our schools and our students, we are investing in Pennsylvania’s future. Visiting schools across the Commonwealth proves how important education funding is,” said BDP Deputy Executive Secretary Dr Debora Carrera. “Fair funding has the power to create lasting improvements and positive outcomes among our students, teachers, faculty, staff and school communities. We look forward to continuing to invest in these passionate people.

Haverford Township School District education stakeholders know how important Governor Wolf’s historic investment is and how increased funding can positively impact school communities.

“The District is excited to share our focus on the needs of each student through a multi-level support system. ARP ESSER funding allows us to provide training as well as staff to implement our strategic plan that drives success of our students,” said Superintendent Dr. Maureen Reusche.

Continuing the Governor’s strong support for education across the Commonwealth, his final budget proposes $1.55 billion for basic education funding and $200 million for special needs education. Over the past seven years, Governor Wolf has secured $1.8 billion in additional funding for pre-K through college, including more than $1.1 billion for basic education, $190 million for special education and $40 million for vocational and technical education.

The 2022-2023 budget builds on these successful education and workforce development programs, further extending high-quality education to more Pennsylvanians; and laying a solid foundation for future workers, citizens, and leaders in Pennsylvania.
