Dorjee taught at various schools in the state for 15 years, she was principal for nine years before being promoted to principal in 2016. She was principal of institutions for 14 years.

Sharing her achievement with the media, Mala Jigdal shared, “Since I started my career in a private school, my goal has always been to raise the level of public schools to the level of a private school. It has always been my dream. Why can’t a public school do what a private school can do? I always took it as a challenge and everywhere I went I tried to make changes. If you come to visit the modern school right now, this year alone, more than 200 private school students are applying for admission to my school in the primary grades. It’s an accomplishment and so this award means a lot to me because I feel like I’ve accomplished something in my professional field.

Sidharth Yonzone (43) has been a teacher for 20 years now. He was promoted to director in 2007.

“Being recognized nationally is a big thing for me, but I think it’s always been a team effort and a team accomplishment. My fantastic team has been my parents, family, friends and supporters, who have supported me from the start with my team of staff and SMC despite the difficulties encountered. The District Administration Center, Western District and now Gyalshing District with the various DCs and WOs have all played a part. Gangtok & NESTS Social Welfare Department team in Delhi. Finally, my amazing students from basketball teams to music teams and all the students I have been blessed to have taught and mentored. So it’s a huge thank you to all of you for earning me this recognition,” Yonzone said.
