The docs talk about Chrissy and Madonna

When it comes to plastic surgery, less is definitely more – unless you want to end up looking like a celebrity in all the wrong ways.

Some superstars like Chrissy Teigen and Madonna, who are often accused of doing aggressive work by the Twitterverse, become uplifting tales. Experts warn that some fad procedures – which often start off subtly but add up – can do more harm than good and (gasp!) Even make you look worse.

Teigen recently revealed on Instagram that she had cosmetic surgery to remove fat from her cheeks called oral fat removal. However, experts warn that this procedure – and others that have grown in popularity – could have dire side effects down the line, including accelerated aging.

The Post examines four examples of potentially questionable procedures and what could have been done instead.

Oral fat removal

“I did this Dr. Diamond oral fat removal thing here,” Teigen said, pointing her cheeks and captioning the clip, “no shame in my playing Dr. Diamond.”

Dr Jason Diamond is best known for appearing in “Dr. 90210,” as well as Netflix’s “Celebrity Plastic Surgeons”. Other famous patients include Kim Kardashian, Kate Upton and Katy Perry.

The outspoken Teigen, 35, who is a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue Cover, has drawn the shadow of some detracting doctors. Dr Tijion Esho, a cosmetic doctor who appears on BBC Morning Live, tweeted that this procedure will “quickly … age her”.

“The main problem in the photos was his overtreated jaw,” the UK-based doctor said. “I would have removed his jaw fillers and used Botox on the masseters for better effect and reassessed from there.”

Even chair reviews warn against someone’s aging procedure in the future.

“This will make her age a lot faster and she didn’t even need it in the first place,” tweeted a random follower named Nicole.

Not surprisingly, plastic surgeons often advise against the well-known surgery.

“The removal of oral fat is an old process. It’s not that this is a bad procedure, but as people get older, and women in particular, oral fat atrophies, ” Dr Lawrence Reed, an Upper East Side plastic surgeon, told The Post about the procedure, which can cost between $ 8,000 and $ 12,000. “They have holes dug on the outside of the corners of their mouths as they get older. This is where the oral fat was, and it goes away with age. You look cadaverous.

Dr. Reed understood why Teigen would turn to surgery with his “round” face, but he shuns clients as a solution.

“I recommend that people with thin faces don’t do this because they will look better now, but you will look worse as you get older,” Dr Reed said. “I dissuade them from doing it. I would never do this on an older person because they are going to lose fat anyway.

There are less invasive ways to get sculpted cheeks, he says. “They can achieve this look with makeup today. I prefer to add to the cheekbone [through fillers] than removing oral fat, ”said Dr. Reed.

Loads to reshape the jaw

‘Like a Virgin’ singer Madonna, 63, reportedly not plastic surgery virgin with her always changing looks. Madge appeared on the cover of a Cover article of New York Magazine 2008 titled “The New New Face” when her look was much admired. Although she has never admitted to having jaw fillers, speculation abounds.

The “Material Girl,” who was stunned at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards on September 12, went too far. “It’s not natural, square and masculine. Instead of rinsing it, they overfilled it, ”Dr. Reed said of Madonna’s appearance. “Chin to jaw should be a smooth transition – they added too much. This is a case of injections gone bad. It’s not going to kill her, but does she look normal with these puffs? It looks weird – she looks jovial and puffy. “

Looks like they got lantern jaws

“The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” has been criticized for looking exaggerated, with some critics calling for their very sculpted looks. But when in Rome… “RHOSLC” star Jen Shah noted that Utah is one of the best American states when it comes to plastic surgeons per capita.

Shah says Page Six Style last year, she wanted people to ditch the pretext of plastic surgery and pony purity – if only to get a referral from a trusted and certified doctor.

“I wish people were more open, because I just want to know where to go,” Shah lamented. “Save me 10 bad Botox jobs.” Just tell me where to go… “Hey, do you want a brow lift?” Do you want Botox? Want your lips to be injected? Here is where you are going. I wish someone would tell me that, because I’m going to be honest with you, I didn’t wake up like that.

Meanwhile, a flourishing reddit thread was devoted to dissecting the suspected “chin injections” that left some of the “RHOSLC” stars as if they had “lantern jaws”.

Brazilian butt lift

Although she has repeatedly denied having had a Brazilian butt lift, speculation still swirls around Kim Kardashian’s full-bodied booty. And the Twitterati can’t help but weigh on Kim’s curves.

“There’s nothing wrong with plastic surgery, but the Kardashians / Jenners have really normalized fat transfers / Brazilian butt facelifts which are the most deadly procedure in cosmetic surgery, let alone that… it doesn’t doesn’t look good. ” sniped LIL BITCH on Twitter.

The procedure takes fat from a place on the body, such as the hips, and injects it into the buttocks to make it fuller. (BTW: Madonna has responded to rumors she had buttock implants.)

A recent poll by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery found that the number of buttock facelifts performed globally increased by 77.6%, making it the fastest growing cosmetic surgery in the world.

“He was from Brazil, and their original technique had a significant associated risk. There have been fatalities from fat entering the lungs or fatalities from fat circulating in blood vessels, ”said Dr Reed, adding that the deeper the injection, the greater the chance of entering a body. vessel were large. “The operation was somewhat doomed. But as the technique has changed, and it’s now done shallow, not deep, the complication rate is much lower. These complications are much less common today.

Reed warned that while the nature of the procedure has improved dramatically over the past five years, non-medical doctors can use everything from grease to wax and paraffins.

“In inexperienced hands, the risk is higher,” he says. “If you inject deeply, you have a problem.”
