STAR JOURNAL STAFF
Students and staff at Crescent Elementary School will wear face coverings until at least October 13. Superintendent Eric Burke informed parents last week and noted in his weekly address Monday to the community that Oneida County and the geographic area of the school district continue to be in a high transmission category.
Overall, Burke said, the number of students and staff in the school district is slightly lower than last week. As of Monday, 16 students in the district tested positive for COVID; nine in Crescent, five in high school, two in middle school and 53 quarantined students in close contact. One district staff member tested positive and four came out as close contacts.
District nurses and administration meet daily to discuss COVID numbers and make decisions. Free PCR testing is available to all district staff, students and families outside the Hodag Dome from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
“We believe that the current testing program, contact tracing and mitigation measures provide the school district with the best opportunity to continue to learn in person and provide all of the wonderful learning and activity opportunities for our people. students, ”said Burke.
