ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) – Lawyer for a representative of the Democratic state of Minnesota facing calls to resign over allegations of domestic violence says the information is not true and could be part of a smear campaign by the police.
Governor of Minnesota Tim walz and leading Democratic state lawmakers call the state representative. John thompson to resign following reports of allegations of domestic violence in his past.
Reports say Thompson is charged in four domestic assault cases, spanning a period between 2003 and 2009, including allegations that Thompson hit and strangled women, sometimes in the presence of children.
Thompson’s lawyer, Jordan kushner, asserts that his client “maintains that the allegations are false and that he has never been found guilty of them by a court”.
