Hosting an impactful program at our Lansing American Job Center

When you think of back to school, we all usually think of similar things – restocking school supplies, buying new school clothes, and making new friends. While all of these things are commonly associated with children and teenagers, they can apply to adult learners as well.

Fortunately for adult learners at all levels of education, there are resources and ways to meet education requirements for career opportunities and set yourself up for success. One such resource that has served our area for over two decades is the Potterville Adult Education (PAE) program. The PAE program believes that adult education gives people a second chance and the opportunity to build a better future for individuals and families. At Capital Area Michigan Works!, we wholeheartedly agree, because we know education is the foundation of a successful career and life.

“The EAP program moved to the Lansing American Job Center on July 1, 2022. The program offers people 18 and older in the tri-county area – Ingham, Eaton and Clinton counties – the opportunity to earn an equivalent (HSE) in addition to offering Adult Basic Education (ABE) designed for adults whose math and reading skills are below ninth grade level.

“We are delighted to call the Lansing AJC our home base. We are grateful for CAMW’s support! and to be in such a perfect place,” said Julie DeRose, Director of PAE. “PAE is committed to fulfilling its mission to create a safe, caring and respectful learning environment in which students acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to succeed in life and work. We will accomplish this by serving the tri-county area with both in-person and virtual classes.”

The EAP program believes that everyone has the right to receive a quality education and that every individual, regardless of age or educational background, should have the opportunity to learn the skills needed to succeed in life and at work.

PAE has provided services to thousands of adults in our area for over 20 years and we are proud to welcome them to our facilities, providing access to HSE certification and ABE services to more residents in our area.
