PETALING JAYA: Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (pictured) was admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) for elective medical intervention, two weeks after undergoing a series of tests there. In a statement, the IJN said no visitors are allowed because of Covid-19 SOPs. Mahathir, who is 96, had already been admitted to the IJN on December 16 for a comprehensive exam. He was released as scheduled a week later after undergoing what the hospital described as a “series of medical investigations.”
Mahathir has a history of heart disease. He suffered his first heart attack in 1989 and two more heart attacks in 2006. The following year, he underwent surgery for a quadruple bypass. In February 2018, he was hospitalized again with a lung infection. * Follow us on Instagram and join our Telegram and or WhatsApp channel (s) for the latest news you don’t want to miss.
