MANILA, Philippines — Outgoing Secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd), Leonor Magtolis Briones, has been appointed Director of the Regional Center for Educational Innovation and Technology of the Asian Ministers of Education Organization South-East (Seameo Innotech).
In a statement, the DepEd announced that Briones will assume his position at Seameo Innotech on August 1, 2022.
DepEd said Briones received the organization’s endorsement letter.
“The entire Department of Education (DepEd) family congratulates outgoing Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones on her appointment,” the DepEd said on Tuesday.
“We greatly appreciate Secretary Briones’ leadership in the Department, as we have witnessed various accomplishments in achieving accessible and quality basic education during her six-year tenure. We are confident that she will pursue her plans and platforms within Seameo Innotech, given her vast experience in public service and international relations,” the agency continued.
Prior to the position, Briones served as Vice Chairman of the Seameo Council from 2021 to 2022.
Seameo Innotech is a regional center of Seameo based in the Philippines that identifies education issues and develops innovative, technology-based solutions for Southeast Asian countries.
