Announcement from the Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards


The Student Affairs Division announces the appointment of Nick Gawlik as Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards effective December 1, 2021.

The Director of Student Conduct is a member of the management team of the Division of Student Affairs and reports to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs. The primary objective of this role is to develop and coordinate student conduct policies and procedures, including hearings, crisis response, provision of guidance and training, administration of interventions and appropriate orientation, all with the aim of fostering a positive living and learning environment for the UNCSA student community. .

This role advises faculty, students, staff, deans and other constituents regarding student conduct policies and procedures and represents the Division of Student Affairs on committees, working groups and other matters related to the conduct and community standards. In addition, this role advises senior management on key disciplinary policies.

Gawlik joined UNCSA as a member of the Residence Life team in 2016 and since arriving here he has held a variety of roles including housing and tenure management, management of Hanes Student Commons, streamlining various housing allocation initiatives, including community health standards and housing transitions related to the covid pandemic19. Earlier this year, Gawlik earned a Certificate in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace from the University of South Florida and completed Restorative Justice training for college student misconduct and residential life. He has presented at numerous conferences, including the StarRez Global Conference, and is active with the American College Personnel Association, the Association of College Unions International, and the Association of College & University Housing Officers. Gawlik is District 4 Representative on the Staff Council and President of North Carolina Housing Officer Technology.
