The Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga, will embark this morning on a roadshow in Mpumalanga to involve communities in the second chance matrix support program and early childhood development.
The roadshow will take place at Mafa Max Motloung High School in Shabangu Street, Botleng, Delmas.
The Basic Education Ministry said the purpose of the Second Chance Matrix Support Program (SCMSP) is to provide support to learners who have not met the requirements for passing the national senior certificate exams.
âIt offers young South Africans a second chance to acquire a National Senior Certificate (NSC), which will be essential to participate in the mainstream economy or continue their studies in higher education institutions (HEIs).
“The early childhood development function migrates to the Department of Basic Education (DBE) of the Department of Social Development, as stated by President Cyril Ramaphosa during the State of the Nation Address 2019 (SONA)” , the ministry said.
The roadshows also aim to sensitize a wide range of actors to make them aware of the two programs, and to solicit their support and participation.
