Have you ever been a candidate in an election? Yes, NC House

Please list the highlights of your civic engagement: I’ve volunteered at our hospital, been a director of the Cape Fear Green Building Alliance, the Historic Wilmington Foundation, and the Wilmington Regional Association of Realtors.

What three issues do you consider most important to your district and what will you do to address them?

We must protect women’s access to reproductive health care. I would like to see Roe’s codification. Second, our water is contaminated with chemicals forever, and it is mandatory to charge polluters for cleanup, and review the permitting process to ensure that no future contamination is essential. Finally, I want to invest more in public education to bring our spending per student and teacher compensation to at least the national average as quickly as fiscally possible.

At a time of rising costs, the state government has a surplus. How should it be used?

Will you vote for Medicaid expansion in North Carolina?

What got the legislature right, and what got it wrong, about public education in North Carolina?

According to the judge in the Leandro case, we have failed to provide our children with the solid basic education guaranteed to them by our Constitution. This is unacceptable. Should North Carolina change its abortion laws? How?

The current state law prohibiting abortion after 20 weeks should be maintained.

The Speaker of the House has said that if he gets another supermajority, an abortion ban is imminent. I hear candidates moderate their positions, it’s because they saw the polls on this issue, but they told us where they stand…believe them.

Should medical marijuana be legalized in North Carolina?

What, if anything, should the legislature do to shape agendas dealing with issues of race, sexuality, and gender?

I think curriculum decisions are best made by professional educators with input from local communities.
